The Bumper Boards

Whoa!!! I am not making this stuff up here. I listen to the Team 1040 regularly and when Washington is mentioned, 95% of it is negative about the Caps. They also hate the Eastern Conference and almost every f'ing day they are whining and bitching about the unbalanced schedule and how much travel Western Conference teams have to do.

Yesterday they were crowing about Luongo as usual and they said, "Isn't it nice not to have to worry about goaltending for a change." They referenced the year of Alex Auld as their starter. They then started going through teams in the West and talked about how their goaltending wasn't up to snuff. Soon enough they started talking about the East. They admitted Brodeur was "decent" I believe was the term. Then they said, "Washington has some huge question marks in goal." Then the one guy remarked that Chicago was "beating up" on Boston. The other guy stated well, Chicago was up by 2 but there was still a lot of time left. They then both agreed that the Eastern Conference was weak and lamented the fact that a Western Conference team would slog their way through the playoffs and be gassed by the finals. They would then meet a fresh Eastern Conference team and therefore it would be a competitive finals.

Ferraro has consistently slagged on Ovechkin. If you are counting back handed compliments as praise (ala Don Cherry style) then I could see why you would think he appears positive.

In fact, Ferraro just seems negative in tone about everything. That really why I don't like him. It's not just the Caps. I recall him talking about Patrick Stefan after he blew that open net with 7 seconds left and the Oilers came back and scored the tying goal. He ripped him apart. Way, way, way over the top. As if he never fucked up in his playing career like that at least a couple of times.

Maybe you like negative, sarcastic people. I sure don't.

Finally, did you listen to his diatribe about Ovechkin's curve on his stick? He literally went on for 2 minutes even while the play was on. You could tell Cuthbert wanted him to shut up but he kept droning on. Brutal.

...pretty cheeky of him considering Luongo has never played past the second round of the playoffs (no better than Jose 'Threeormore' in that respect)...in fact Luongo has only been in the playoffs twice in his entire NHL career (of course it wasn't entirely his fault he was stuck on lousy Kittycats teams for most of that time but still).

I may be sounding like a broken record, but it seems that Green is consistently becoming a physical d-man. I like the "edge" he has acquired. Whatever is pissing him off, lets hope it continues.

Speaking of "edge".. did anyone see Green lose his edge when going around the net before the national anthems? He was skating a "U" around the net, slipped, wiped out, went flying through the Weagle rug, slammed into the hinge where the zamboni doors are and went out the rink. I laughed my ass off once I saw he was ok.

This I cannot argue with. It's just that some nights seem much worse than others. Oh well. As long as they aren't calling every little BS thing that happens on the ice, in the long run it should all work out.

I think Al Koken mentioned something about this but seeing as I have to watch this on tv I don't think they caught it. That's hilarious, though.

"Unleash the Fury" needs to be played at EVERY game--you can see the Caps get fired up after it's played, regardless of the score...

speaking of losing edges....OV has lost it on multiple occasions over the last 2 games

Actually I don't find this hilarious at all. I mean it may have looked funny but the ice at the Verizon Center is no joke. The ice is so shitty that I think it puts our players at risk each and every home game. It's time for Ted to follow through on his promise to upgrade the ice. As soon as he gets control of the building which should be soon I think.
