Some opinions have been expressed in other threads, but here is a poll.

This is what you think SHOULD happen, not what you think WILL happen.
Also, this poll assumes he will NOT play both games.

Thank you for your participation.

I don't want to see Holtby start until the Caps lose.

This. Too much mentally for the team to worry about everything that's going on right now plus a rookie netminder making his debut. Regardless of how he may do in net, I think it would throw off the skaters in front of him from the system/style that has lead them to this current streak. my $.02

Caps with 3 games in less than 4 days. I say give Holtby Friday's game no matter what happens tomorrow. I'd rather lose the streak than risk overplaying Theo...

definetly could... but i think id rather have theo hot and well rester for the pens game.. i think it would go a lot further for this team in the playoffs to have them kickin the pens ass in the reg season to to have a bigger winning streak.. ya i know caps won the season series last year.. but i still think its important

Play Holtby friday against Atlanta.

Having a rested Theo ready for Crapsburgh is more important than the streak. We need to beat the s*** out of those f******.

Besides, Holtby would make the team circle the wagons I think and play better.

Atlanta is sort of a trap game anyway so I don't see any harm.

Go Holtby! :happy-cheerleaderkid:

Thought about it some more, it could swing the other way and the team could step up their play thinking they need to make up for the rookie in net...it might be what keeps them from playing down to Atlanta. We will see what happens Thursday night against the Rags, but I like how Theo is playing right now and if he doesn't have any bad games how do you deny letting him run with it. (its not like he has played every game of the year and needs a break...but 3in4 is tough...I don't fuckin' know...I picked a bad day to go to work and quit drinking )

I'd rather see Neuvirth back up for Thursday or Friday's game. The last thing we need is for Holtby to have a good game and listen to a handful of us on here start gushing about how great he is and how much better off we are with him over the three other guys :snooty:

Neuvy apparently has a minor lower body injury. :(

It's Theos net to lose. With olympics coming up he will get plenty of rest.

Holtby should go Friday, IMO (unless Neuvy can go then... Theo should not start).

Longer term goals should not be sacrificed for the win streak in Jan/Feb.

What long-term goals would be sacrificed by Theodore playing a back-to-back? Acute exhaustion?

My dad doesn't want Holtby to start because he said he's afraid he'll have to strap me to my seat at VC on Friday. (I'm a sucker for prospects and goalies)

fatigue is possible. Injury from fatigue is more likely.

not speaking just back to back, but overall in this stretch. Just better safe than sorry, IMO. There is no reason to risk it.

Indeed. I don't want Holtby starting against Crapsburgh. Though it would be hilarious if we beat them doing that.

I totally agree with you, we need to make sure we have a totally psychological edge on those guys!

Theo has the entire Olympic Break to rest up. I'll take the extra risk in exchange for (hopefully) some breathing room atop the league Standings.

I'm sure that was the plan, but as he's hurt it can't happen. I guess there is a chance he could be ok by Friday though depending on what was wrong.

we already got 10 points... how many do you want? haha, it's nice we can be greedy like that now. :music-rockon: the 10-0-0 sure looks good in L10 in the standings. OTTAWA IS ALSO 10-0-0??? wtf.

I think Holtby should get a start. Friday is the best choice. I am not overly worried about Theo getting tired with the break coming up, but I think the kid should get a shot.

Stick with the hot hand until he isn't. If they lose to the Rangers, then maybe give the kid a game. If they win, and Theodore plays well, stick with him. I would hope they care more about the overall record and not a hot streak.

The Caps sitting on top of San Jose by one measly point with even games played. Some separation would be nice, considering how much of an advantage the VC is for the Caps. Players around the league talk about how effective the crowd is at the Phone Booth.

I don't want to fuck with the winning streak. If we lose, start him against Atlanta (but not the Pens). Otherwise, stick with Theo.
